When people ask me what I do, the simplest answer is that I help dogs and the people who love them navigate life's challenges with compassion, understanding and a truly individual approach.
For over 40 years, I've had the privilege of working alongside animals and their guardians in many different ways. Beginning my career in veterinary nursing, I gained invaluable experience caring for dogs through every stage of life.
Over time, however, I found myself increasingly drawn towards a more holistic way of supporting health and wellbeing—one that looks beyond symptoms and behaviour to understand the whole dog.
That journey eventually led to the creation of Canine Senses.
Today, I combine my veterinary nursing knowledge with a range of complementary holistic approaches to support dogs physically, emotionally and behaviourally. Rather than relying on a single method, I believe in choosing the approaches that best suit each individual dog, creating a personalised wellbeing journey designed around their unique needs.
No two dogs are ever the same. Their personalities, life experiences, relationships, health and emotions all influence how they experience the world. That's why I never believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every dog deserves to be seen, heard and understood as the individual they are.
Whether I'm supporting a dog through Botanical Self-Healing, APA Wellness, Animal Centred Education (ACE), the Emotion Code or a combination of approaches, my focus is always the same: helping each dog feel safer, healthier, happier and more confident in themselves.
I believe that every dog has their own story.
🌿 Sometimes they're living with physical discomfort.
🌿 Sometimes they're struggling emotionally.
🌿 Sometimes they simply need a little more confidence to cope with the world around them.
Rather than asking, "What's wrong with this dog?" I prefer to ask, "What is this dog trying to tell us?" When we take the time to listen, observe and work with the dog rather than trying to fix them, remarkable things can happen. That philosophy sits at the heart of everything I do.
Over more than four decades, I've continued to learn, develop and expand my knowledge because I believe there is always more to discover about supporting animal wellbeing.
My professional journey includes qualifications and ongoing study in:
🌿 Botanical Self-Healing (Zoopharmacognosy)
🌿 Animal PsychAromatica (APA Wellness System)
🌿 Animal Centred Education (ACE)
🌿 The Emotion Code
🌿 TCM and Nutrition for Canines
🌿 Veterinary Practice Nursing
🌿 OCN NI Pet First Aid and Cardiopulmonary and Cerebral Resuscitation
🌿 Animal Communication
🌿 Shamanic Practices
Each discipline adds another piece to the puzzle, allowing me to tailor every wellbeing journey to the individual dog rather than expecting the dog to fit a particular therapy.

People often ask me what I enjoy when I'm not working, and the answer is always the same, I'm happiest spending time with the people and animals I love.
Whether that's enjoying time with my family, my own four-footed companions or catching up with friends, those moments help keep me grounded and remind me of what's truly important.
I enjoy reading, drumming, the unseen world and continuing my professional development, exploring new ideas that may help me support the dogs and guardians I work with. My learning never really stops.
Above all, I feel incredibly fortunate to spend each day doing something I genuinely love. Supporting dogs and the people who care for them isn't just my profession—it's a privilege, and one that continues to inspire me every single day.
